Vacancies

NHS Jobs provides a dedicated online recruitment service for people seeking a career in the NHS across England and Wales.

As NHS employers put the majority of their vacancies on this website it should be the first place you visit to find a job in the NHS.

The site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

All you need to register is a valid email address that you can access regularly. You should set this up before you start your job search.

Job vacancies are added continually to the NHS Jobs website so please check regularly if you are interested in working for NHS Wales.

The NHS Jobs on-line service

You can perform job searches on the site, find jobs to match your skills, your preferred locations for work and salary level. You can also apply for NHS jobs online, save an application for completion later and store an application to make filling in forms quicker.

Signing up to Jobs by Email allows you to receive updates on new vacancies to suit your job search every day.

The website also provides useful links on sponsorship opportunities, help with making your application, and details of the wide range of careers available in the NHS.

Making Applications

When employers are advertising job vacancies, they will produce a job description (an outline of the job, including a summary of the main tasks and responsibilities) and a person specification (the type of person they wish to attract, including essential and desirable criteria). These are available for each job on NHS Jobs.

Job vacancies are usually filled through open competition, so you need to ensure that you read the job description and person specification fully, before making your application. In orders to be short listed (invited for interview) for a position, candidates must meet at least all the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.

More general information on job descriptions and person specifications can be found on NHS Jobs
