What we are and how we can help you

Covering the three counties of Hywel Dda CHC represents some 385,200 patients over one quarter the landmass of Wales! A big responsibility! To discharge this duty effectively we have Local Committees in each County with local offices in Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Milford Haven. So wherever you live there are CHC representatives close at hand.

We have 36 Voluntary Members, appointed either by the Welsh Government, the County Councils, or the Voluntary Sector, and we are supported by a Chief officer and experienced staff.

We have an free Advocacy Service which can offer advice if you have a complaint about health services.

We would like to encourage everyone to attend our meetings.  They are held in Public, except of course if there are any matters of confidentiality to discuss.

What can the CHC do for you?

• Seek your views about your local health service and use this information to help us work with the Hywel Dda Health Board to monitor their services
• Inspect all premises where NHS services are provided and recommend changes when necessary
• Provide a free, confidential and independent advocacy service offering support, advice and guidance for those who wish to make a complaint about health services
• Provide information about local health services

How YOU can help us monitor and improve our health services

The most important thing you can do is to tell us about your experiences of the heath service, good or bad. You may feel that you have not received the quality of service expected and feel upset about what has happened and want an explanation or make a complaint.

Whether it’s any of these or some other matter to do with health service provision, please let us know – that’s what we’re here for.

You can contact the CHC by post, email and/or telephone

Please note :
We do not give advice on clinical healthcare or treatment.
If you do require medical help or advise, please contact
NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 or in an emergency call the 999.

For lists of GP practices, Dentists, Pharmacies or Opticians, please refer to the
