Visiting Scrutiny and Monitoring

Hospital, General Practice, Dentist and Pharmacy monitoring is one of the core functions of the CHCs ‘quality monitoring’ programme of local health services on behalf of the public. The purpose of visiting is to ensure that the patients’ views on the quality of services is both heard and heeded by the NHS. It is a traditional role that CHCs have been carrying out for nearly thirty years, and they have developed a great deal of knowledge and expertise about local health services through their visiting programmes. Information about our visit should be displayed around one week ahead of our scheduled visits to wards, surgeries etc. Please look out for these notices we encourage all to comment on the services provided.

In addition to this regular monitoring of services the CHC carries out spot checks and unannounced scrutiny visits in response to complaints and local, pressing concerns.

Please take some time to give us your views via email or the questionnaires on all NHS services
