The Vulnerable Groups Team covers the following client groups:
- Asylum Seekers
- People with eating disorders
- People with Learning Disabilities
- People with Mental Health problems
- Older People
- Prison Health/Crime & Disorder
- Substance misusers
The Team aims to work in partnership with other organisations to:
- ensure that asylum seekers have their health needs assessed and have access to appropriate NHS services
- ensure that awareness of the health issues associated with eating disorders and the appropriate evidence-based response is drawn to the attention of providers and commissioners
- work towards lessening the disparities between the health status of individuals with learning disability and that of the general population.
- take a pro-active role in developing a mentally healthy society
- contribute towards policies and action plans that maintain the independence of older persons for the maximum length of time
- work on the development of treatment and rehabilitation services for substance misusers
