About Chepstow Community Hospital

Chepstow Community Hospital is a new hospital which opened in 2000 having been developed under the Government's Private Finance Initiative.

Services at this 84 bedded hospital consists of primary, community and secondary care delivered from one location and as such is a new approach to the provision of care. As well as hospital services the building also houses two GP practices (Mount Pleasant and Town Gate Surgeries).

It is also the base for the District Nurses and Health Visitors that serve the Chepstow area.

In particular the hospital offers:

    Chepstow Community Hospital is situated on the western edge of the town, north of the A48, in the middle of a new housing development.

    Getting there:

    By car:

    From the M48 travelling East or West:
    1. take exit 2, and continue to the roundabout with the A48
    2. take the second exit of the roundabout, the A466 to Monmouth and Tintern
    3. continue to a set of traffic lights
    4. turn right
    5. continue straight on, turning right at the next roundabout and the hospital is at the end of this road

    From the North:
    1. The main road from the north is the A466 from Monmouth and Tintern
    2. continue South on this ignoring the left turn into Chepstow town centre, until the traffic lights at no 3 above
    3. turn left and continue as above

    By public transport:

    Chepstow has both rail and coach links from the rest of the UK.

    Locally, the numbers 65 and 69 buses from the bus station to Monmouth, travel along the main road past the hospital. The services run from 7:00am to 5:10 pm.  (Please note, the bus timetable is subject to change).

    • there is a restaurant/coffee shop open to staff, visitors and patients that is open from 8:30am to 6:30pm
    • there is currently no public phone access in the hospital, please contact the ward manager for more information

    Visiting arrangements:
    (Visiting times are subject to change)
    2:30pm - 5:30pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm
    St Arvans
    2:30pm - 5:30pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm
    Protected mealtimes are in place from 12:00 - 2:00pm.
    St Pierre
    11:00 - 20:00, however protected mealtimes are in place between 12:30pm - 1:30pm and 5:30pm - 6:30pm whereby visitors who wish to support their relative to eat and drink are welcome to do so.
