The Welsh Government launched its consultation on a draft refresh of the Carers Strategy for Wales last month.....
The Refreshed Strategy sets the strategic direction for carers policy up to 2015, and contains key actions the Welsh Government intends to take to achieve positive outcomes for carers and looks at how support for carers needs to adapt to meet the demands of an ageing population, which has increased the pressure on unpaid carers and the agencies that support them.
There are over 350,000 carers in Wales, 90,000 of whom look after family or friends for at least 50 hours a week. It is important to consider the needs of all carers and this is reflected in the strategy.
The Strategy is arranged around five key priority areas: health and social care; information; identification and consultation; young carers and young adult carers; support and a life beyond caring; and carers and employment.
If you have any comments you would like to make on the strategy please download the Carers Strategy Consultation Response Form and send them to Colleen Bright, Head of Partnership and Network Planning, Aneurin Bevan Health Board. Colleen's email address is Colleen.Bright@wales.nhs.uk
Comments are needed by 18 January in order that a response can be submitted by Aneurin Bevan Health Board to the Welsh Government in line with the consultation deadline (5 February).
