Welcome to Aneurin Bevan Health Board

This website has been created for you and is your guide to finding all the information that you need about health related services in your area.   It is here to help you stay healthy, get the support and services you need and show you how you can get more involved in shaping the future of Aneurin Bevan Health Board services.

Aneurin Bevan Health Board has an ambitious and challenging agenda to ensure we are:
*
*
*
Working with you for a healthier community
Caring for you when you need us
Aiming for excellence in all that we do
Aneurin Bevan Health Board serves an estimated population of over 639,000, approximately 21% of the total Welsh population.

During 2011/12:
*
Outpatient waiting times in orthopaedics were reduced, with 90% of patients waiting fewer than 12 weeks for an appointment. More patients were treated in the Gwent area, as we have orthopaedic operating facilities in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.
*
We maintained and continued improvements in the services provided for patients who have suffered a stroke.
*
Over 70% of patients undergoing surgery were admitted on the day of their surgery - the second highest rate in Wales.  This has reduced the overall time patients have to spend in hospital when having surgery.
*
We established Chronic Conditions Management (CCM) initiatives to provide better support at home for patients with chronic diseases (heart, lung and diabetes), to reduce the number of times they are admitted to hospital and to support their early discharge if an admission is unavoidable.
*
We had the largest reduction in teenage pregnancies in Wales. Health Board Nurses have been trained to provide LARCs (Long Acting Reversible Contraception), eg implants and injections, in Specialist Clinics.  We hold 50 clinics a week in 31 locations, all open-access, walk-in services totalling 35,000 consultations across Gwent per year.
*
The Medicines Management Programme continued to focus on cost effective prescribing and achieved savings of £3.76m.
