Tŷ Llidiard opened ahead of schedule in June 2011.
The construction project was managed by Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, while the unit itself is run by Cwm Taf Health Board for patients across South Wales.

Tŷ Llidiard, based in the grounds of the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, cost £26million to build and was funded by the Welsh Government as part of its commitment to improving children’s mental health services.

It is a mixed sex unit, caring for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. The 19 bed facility cares for young people with a variety of mental health problems. It has been designed with the help of young patients and staff, and is ideally located at the Princess of Wales Hospital where it can easily link with wider health and children’s services.
