Closure of small access road at Morriston Hospital

Monday, 22 October 2012
From Monday 29th October, the road from the main entrance at Morriston Hospital to the back of the Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre (ALAC) will be permanently closed.

The closure will enable the construction of the new Combined Services Department to continue. However, it will also mean that the car park behind the ALAC will also be temporarily unavailable.

Patients accessing the centre are advised to be accompanied to their appointments where possible, so they can be dropped off and picked up outside the building. There are also disabled spaces in the multi-storey car park.

A new access route to the ALAC car park will be opened once the new building has been completed in early 2013.

Shan Morgan, Service Development Manager, said:

“We apologise for any inconvenience this latest change to the layout at Morriston Hospital may bring. However, it is necessary for us to close the road and car park to be able to continue the work on the Combined Services Department.

“The state of the art building will provide new accommodation for the Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre, Regional Engineering Unit and Medical Electronics Department.”

Regular updates will be provided on the changes being made to the hospital, but if anyone has any specific queries, please contact the Health Vision Swansea Team on 01639 683339 or by emailing HVS@wales.nhs.uk
