The Neonatal Unit at Singleton Hospital has received a generous donation from the workers at DVLA Contact Centre at Swansea.
The 800 or so staff nominated the unit as their chosen charity for the year and during the Star Awards event handed over £8,500.

Wendy Davies, Lead Nurse on the Neonatal Unit attended the Star Awards evening and collected the donation on behalf of the neonatal unit. She said:  “Thank you for the amazing donation for the neonatal unit.

“Please thank all the front line staff for choosing us as their charity for this year.

“I am overwhelmed by the number of people who helped raise so much money.

“The money will be used to purchase additional equipment for the unit.”

Gwyneth Jones, Staffing Support Administration Manager from the DVLA added: “Every year the DVLA Contact Centre select a local charity to support, we invite nominations from all staff and choose the charity with the most votes.

“Singleton Hospital Neonatal Unit was a very popular nomination and it is something that most people could identify with, this is the first hospital charity that we have supported.

“We have had several events to raise the money, namely a sponsored static bike ride from John o Groats to Lands End, cake bakes and raffles.”
