Wednesday, 1 September 2010
AN ABM doctor is helping to raise money for the victims of the Pakistan floods.
Dr Parvaiz Ali, Consultant Clinical Scientist and Head of Nuclear Medicine at Singleton Hospital, is also chairman of the Pakistan Welfare Association of Swansea and West Wales.

He said:

“We have managed to raise £22,000 in the last few days, and expect to close the appeal in about 10 days time.

“We only want to run this appeal for a short time and then get the money across to those in need as quickly as possible so that people can be supplied with clean water, food and medicine.”

According to figures from the UN and the Pakistani Government, about 1,600 have been killed and 16.8 million more affected by the floods. An area about the size of the UK has been affected.

Dr Ali’s Association also raised more than £55,000 for victims of the Pakistan Earthquake five years ago.

Anyone wishing to donate to the appeal can make cheques payable to the Pakistan Appeal Fund, and send them to Tavistock Lodge, Tavistock Road, Sketty, Swansea SA2 0SL.
