A Bonny surprise for ABM renal unit

Special birthday celebrations give Renal Unit a boost of over £800.

In June, ABM Healthcare Support Worker, Bonny James, from Seven Sisters, held a birthday party with a difference.

Bonny invited all her friends and family to celebrate her 60 years young birthday with a party at the Onllwyn Welfare Hall in Seven Sisters.

But instead of gifts for herself she asked people to donate money to the Renal Unit at Morriston Hospital.

Bonny said:

“I have everything that I need in my life.  Asking friends and family members to make a small cash donation in lieu of a gift was the best thing ever.  It’s fantastic that they have raised over £800.

“The Renal Unit is close to my heart. My dad and a close friend were treated here and it just seemed right to give the donation to them.  All the staff are very helpful, supportive and friendly.

“I hope people will see that a donation instead of a gift is a good idea and think about doing it for their next birthday”.

Liz Baker, Lead Nurse in the Renal Unit, said:
“This is a fantastic amount of money which will be put to good use for the patients.

“Thank you to all Bonny’s family and friends who donated so generously. I hope everyone had a great time at the party; this is a great idea.”
