NLIAH e-Bulletin July 2012

On behalf of NHS Wales, the Workforce Information Systems (WfIS) Programme won the UK Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) Excellence in HRM Award for Best Practice and Innovation using ESR with the project "One Vision, One System, One Wales". 
 
The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Self Management for Life (SM4L) project being piloted by Education Programmes for Patients (EPP) Cymru in Hywel Dda Health Board provides an opportunity to make further inroads into improving self management of COPD.
 
The Advanced Development Programme (ADP) has been designed to develop the next generation of leaders, introducing future leaders to the skills they will need to have to manage staff and financial resources in a patient facing service.
 
NLIAH have developed brand new educational programmes for nurses working within endoscopy which will be launched on 28th September.
 
Helping patients to recover from surgery sooner, improving end of life care and the development of a specialist programme to help people lose weight is just some of the work which has been recognised in this year’s NHS Wales Awards.

Ian Govier co-presented a research paper regarding the effectiveness of NLIAH e-Mentoring programmes with Dr Stephen Gibb (Strathclyde University) at the 2012 European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) Research Conference at Sheffield Hallam University on 4th July.
