Inpatient Services
Your Admission to the Glan Usk Suite
Pre-Admission Clinic
Should you need to undergo a surgical procedure or need to be admitted for tests you will be required to attend a pre-admission clinic on the Suite prior to being admitted.
A general health check and screening will ensure you are fit for surgery and an anaesthetic, if required. A full MRSA screen will also be undertaken at this time to ensure a controlled infection environment. Other tests that may be undertaken are ECG (heart trace), X-ray of chest or limbs and blood tests.
A senior nurse will conduct your pre-admission and you will be given information about your operation and time to discuss any concerns you may have with regards to your procedure, admission and hospital stay and what to expect during your post-operative convalescence.
A tour of the Suite is offered at this time should you require one.
A letter explaining this will be issued to you once your Consultant has confirmed your booking.
Emergency Admissions
If you are admitted to the hospital as an emergency patient and would like to continue your care on the Glan Usk Suite, please inform a member of staff who will contact the Suite and make enquiries. Any transfer is subject to a clear MRSA screen and the Consultant agreeing to treat you as a private patient.
