1000 Lives e-Newsletter wins communications award

The 1000 Lives Plus e-Newsletter has won an award as the best newsletter in Wales.

 

Andrew Cooper, communications officer for 1000 Lives Plus, picked up the award at the annual PRide awards organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) in Wales.

 

The bilingual e-Newsletter has been issued on a near monthly basis since the 1000 Lives Campaign was launched in April 2008. It is sent to more than 3,000 NHS staff.

 

The award for the newsletter follows soon after Andrew Cooper was named as Communicator of the Year by the Association for Healthcare Communications and Marketing (AHCM).

 

Professor Sir Mansel Aylward CB, Chair of Public Health Wales, said: “This is further recognition of the excellent communications work led by the 1000 Lives Plus team. Andrew can be very proud of the award received from his peers.”

 

The 1000 Lives Campaign was shortlisted for two further awards – one for the best public sector campaign and one for best internal communications.

 

The Campaign has now been succeeded by 1000 Lives Plus, a five year programme to improve patient safety and reduce avoidable harm across NHS Wales.
