Ken graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in pharmacy in 1989. After completing his pre-registration year in Gloucester, he completed a diploma in clinical pharmacy whilst working at Cardiff Royal Infirmary and Whitchurch Hospital.
Ken continued to work as a clinical pharmacist at several hospitals in the South Wales area gaining experience in a number of specialities including intensive care, general medicine, general and orthopaedic surgery. He also worked in the pharmacy aseptic services of several hospitals and really enjoyed working with the paediatric oncology unit at Llandough Hospital.
He joined the LHB in 2000 as a prescribing adviser. He provides medicines management support to the 17 general practices in the Cynon locality. He has been involved in innovative projects to improve the prescribing of antibiotics and blood glucose testing strips. Ken qualified as a supplementary prescriber at University of Glamorgan in 2004. He has used this qualification to undertake clinics in COPD and to aid hypnotic withdrawal.
Ken used to have free time then he got married, two children and bought a house.
