How we are organised

The Health Protection Division of  Public Health Wales was fomerly known as the Infection and Communicable Disease Service (ICDS).

This was established in April 2003 and incorporates the microbiology laboratories and Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre (CDSC) that previously comprised PHLS in Wales and the Health Protection Teams formally employed by Health Authorities.

We provide a range of operational and strategic infection services that embrace both hospital and community practice.
