Artificial Limbs
Across Wales there is currently a caseload of 3,500 artificial limb users. On referral to the service, all individuals are assessed. Where appropriate this will lead to the manufacture and provision of a suitable prosthesis and subsequent training to assist in it's use.
The service to patients in Wales is provided by a combination of NHS staff and staff employed by a specialist company.
The Service Provides:
- Individual assessment.
- The issue of an artificial limb where appropriate.
- Therapy to assist its use.
- Maintenance and repair.
- Regular reviews.
