NHS Reforms - Betsi Cadwaladr University Health BoardLinks:Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board As part of the reforms process in the NHS in Wales, a new organisation will be created to serve the population of North Wales. The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board will combine the North Wales NHS Trust (previously North East Wales NHS Trust and Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust), the North West Wales NHS Trust, and the six Local Health Boards of Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham. Acute, intermediate, primary and community care, mental health and learning disabilities services will be integrated into the single organisation. The new organisation will be established in shadow form on June 1st 2009 and will become fully operational by October 1st 2009. Its budget will be in the region of £1.1 billion and it will have 18,000 staff. The Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board will provide services to around 675,500 people and primarily serve the residents of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham and other adjacent health communities where appropriate.
