Pharmacy Training in Wales

Welcome to the Welsh Hospital Pharmacy website.

This site provides information about training opportunities and careers in hospital pharmacy, and opportunities for undertaking training in Wales.

All Welsh hospitals offer a comprehensive range of pharmacy training opportunities for all grades of staff from school leavers, through to post-graduates. Visit the links on this site to explore the options that are available.

The Welsh hospital pharmacy undergraduate vacation training scheme provides pharmacy undergraduates with experience of hospital pharmacy prior to choosing their preregistration placement.

There is a well established preregistration training programme and there are also opportunities to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, which is accredited by the Welsh School of Pharmacy.

It is also possible to undertake in-house training and complete a National Vocational Training at level 3 to become a pharmacy technician

An NVQ level 2 training programme has been developed for use in at all sites across Wales to enable pharmacy assistants to be trained to meet the competence requirements of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
