Pharmacy Training in Wales
Welcome to the Welsh Hospital Pharmacy website.
This site provides information about training opportunities and careers in hospital pharmacy in Wales.
All Welsh hospitals offer a comprehensive range of pharmacy training opportunities for all grades of staff from school leavers, through to post-graduates. Visit the links on this site to explore the options that are available.
The Welsh hospital pharmacy undergraduate vacation training scheme provides pharmacy undergraduates with experience of hospital pharmacy prior to choosing their preregistration placement.
There is a well established Preregistration Pharmacist training programme and as a registered pharmacist, there are opportunities to undertake a Postgraduate MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, which is accredited by the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, Cardiff University.
It is also possible to undertake the training and qualifications required to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Society whilst employed as a pre-registration pharmacy technician.
An NVQ level 2 training programme has been developed for use in all sites across Wales to enable pharmacy assistants to be trained to meet the competence requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
