Welcome to the Clinical Governance Support & Development Unit

Support local NHS organisations in implementing national policy and strategy for improving patient safety and quality helping to interpret national requirements at local level, providing education and support for Board level teams and services.

 

Respond to requests from health service organisations and clinical teams for support and development particularly focusing on patient safety, quality of care and team-working.

 

Undertake clinical governance, quality and safety reviews of services and NHS organisations In response to requests from Health Boards and Trusts, or as required by the Welsh Assembly Government.

 

 

Promote awareness of system wide quality and clinical governance issues in other organisations concerned with providing care including work with the third sector, local authorities and the prison health service; working cross sector and with partnerships and networks.

 

Promote and support and assist health service organisations in interpreting and responding to these.

 

Promote and support organisations in their work to improve patient safety and reduce harm

 

Liaise with other national organisations engaged in the quality and safety agenda including the National Patient Safety Agency, National Learning and Innovation Agency for Health, Health Inspectorate Wales and Public Health Wales.
