Support local NHS organisations in implementing national policy and strategy for improving patient safety and quality helping to interpret national requirements at local level, providing education and support for Board level teams.

 

Facilitate communication and learning networks for NHS professional staff involved in clinical governance and quality management including regional networks for clinical governance managers, website and e-bulletins, and facilitation of national workshops on key quality issues.

 

Respond to requests from service and clinical teams for support and development particularly focusing on patient safety, quality of care and team-working.

 

Undertake clinical governance reviews of services and NHS organisations In response to requests from Trusts or LHBs, or as required by the Director of NHS Wales.

 

Promote awareness of quality and clinical governance issues in other organisations concerned with providing healthcare including work with voluntary organisations, local authorities and the prison health service.

 

Liaise with other national organisations engaged in the quality and safety agenda including the National Patient Safety Agency, National Learning and Innovation Agency for Health, Health Inspectorate Wales, the Wales Centre for Health and the National Public Health Service.
