Summary of outcome of Reform of CHCs Consultation
The Minister for Health & Social Services, Edwina Hart AM OStJ MBE, outlined her intentions for the reform of CHCs on Friday 29th January 2010, following conclusion of the Consultation period. The main changes are as follows, and are to take effect from 1st April 2010:
- 17 existing CHCs to be dissolved and reduced in number to six new bodies (in addition to retaining Brecknock & Radnor and Montgomery CHCs)
- The new bodies will have the same name as their respective Local Health Board, although CHCs will be able to append a geographical 'tagline' to their official name if they feel this is required.
- The arrangement for membership numbers will be reviewed in two years time.
- Board of CHCs to be reduced in size and Director to be made a full member
- The deadline for applications for Welsh Assembly Government appointment to CHCs is 22nd February 2010, with interviews prospectively beginning the week commencing 15th March 2010.
