All Wales Medicines Strategy GroupThe All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) brings together NHS clinicians, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, academics, health economists, industry representatives and patient advocates to provide advice on strategic medicines management and prescribing to the Minister for Health & Social Services. The Group’s main functions are to: Advise the Assembly of future developments in healthcare to assist in its strategic planning. Advise the Assembly on the development and implementation of a prescribing strategy for Develop timely, independent and authoritative advice on new medicines and on the cost implications of making them routinely available on the NHS. The AWMSG and its sub committees are supported by the Welsh Medicines Partnership (WMP) which provides the secretariat, pharmaceutical assessment and health economics resources.
