Welcome to the Pembrokeshire Local Health Board (LHB) website
Working towards the improvement of the health and social well-being of the people of Pembrokeshire.Thank you for visiting the Pembrokeshire LHB website. We hope that you will find the website interesting and informative. Our mission is to improve the health and well being of the people of Pembrokeshire by working with others to deliver quality healthcare, value people, protect the health of the population, achieve excellence, engage people and communities and ensure continuous improvement. The LHB has responsibility to commission safe and sustainable health and social care services within its financial allocation for the people of Pembrokeshire. Our AchievementsSince its inception in 2003, the Pembrokeshire LHB continues to make significant achievements in the provision of quality health services for the people of Pembrokeshire. Our Annual Report highlights some of the major achievements by the LHB in the last 12 months. This is a challenging yet exciting year for health services across Wales. The Minister for Health and Social Services has announced a major change programme, which will greatly reduce the number of NHS organisations but will further enhance the improvement of services and ensure you all receive safe and excellent care from the NHS. Further information will be available in the Autumn following a further period of consultation by the Welsh Assembly Government. A considerable amount of joint working has already taken place over the year. The three Trusts in the counties of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire have merged into the new Hywel Dda NHS Trust. This has created the ability for clinicians to work together to provide better services. From 1 August 2008, the LHB’s former Chairman – Mr Chris Martin, took up the new position of Chairman of the Hywel Dda NHS Trust. We wish him all the very best in his new role and look forward to continuing our close working relationship with him. Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion LHBs have also been working very closely together over the past few months. This year has seen our appointment as Chairman and Chief Executive for bother Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion LHBs, together with the creation of a single management structure across the two organisations. Both Boards are still in operation to retain the sovereignty and accountability in each of the counties. The LHB will continue to build on and extend the good partnership working that already exists in Pembrokeshire. The LHB continues to work with the Community Health Council, the local Trust, the Local Authority, the Voluntary Sector and with the people of Pembrokeshire, to define key health and social care issues and priorities. Public InvolvementWe welcome your views and suggestions, and your feedback about health and social services in the County. Whether positive or negative, your views, suggestions and feedback are important for us to continually improve our services. Together we can always find the way forward to meet the health and well being needs of all the residents of our County. Our business is conducted openly through Board Meetings. We encourage you to attend the meetings in person to understand the business of healthcare planning and commissioning in Pembrokeshire. We very much hope this year ahead will prove even more successful as the efforts of our hard working workforce continue to result in positive outcomes for you all. Thank you for taking the time to visit this website.
