The Health and Social Care Guide sets out what you can expect from those services now, and in the future as we make improvements. It also tells you how you can get more information about these services.

The Health and Social Care Guide replaces the Patients Charter published in 1996. It differs from the Charter which was restricted to covering health issues.
- Throughout the development of the guide, care has been taken to consult widely with members of the public, voluntary groups, NHS, Local Authorities and Community Health Councils.

NHS Direct Wales is a 24 hour nurse-led, confidential helpline providing advice and information on what to do if you or any member of your family is feeling ill.
Calls are charged at the local rate, and there is a confidential translation service available.
