Welsh Government
Since devolution the Welsh Government is responsible for setting health policy in Wales. It runs a helpline for health enquiries called Ateb. Ateb finds answers to questions on Health, Social Services and Children’s policy in the Welsh Government. Ateb will aim to answer your query within 5 days. NHS Wales
A new NHS Wales came into being on 1st October 2009. This involved the reorganisation of previous NHS bodies to form:
- Seven Health Boards responsible for planning and delivering all health services in their areas
- Three NHS Trusts, each providing services on an all Wales basis

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABM University Health Board)
ABM University Health Board consists of the former Local Health Boards (LHBs) for Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend and also the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust. Its budget stands at £1.3b and it employs around 16,000 staff.

Aneurin Bevan Health Board
The Aneurin Bevan Health Board covers the areas of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and South Powys and employs over 16,000 staff.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham) as well as some parts of mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire. The Health Board employs around 18,000 staff.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest NHS organisations in Wales. The Health Board employs approximately 14,500 staff and provides health services to a population of around 445,000 people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
