Public and stakeholder views on the strategic direction of Public Health Wales are being sought.
04 August 2010, Public Health WalesThe appeal for views is part of an engagement process with staff and stakeholders in developing the organisation’s strategy over the next five years.
The outcome of the engagement process will be a document agreed by the Public Health Wales Board which sets out:
- The vision and mission
- Strategic objectives
- Values
- Priorities
Chief Executive, Bob Hudson, said: “This is an important process as it will help shape the way forward for Public Health Wales as a new organisation in a new system.
“As a public service advising the Welsh Assembly Government, NHS, local government, other agencies and the public, we need to shape our services to meet their needs. So we want to hear people’s views about the type of organisation they need us to be and the priorities we should be adopting.”
General and specific opinions are welcome but the following questions may help identify what is being looked for:
Vision for Public Health Wales - what do you want Wales to be like in five years time from a public health perspective?
Values of Public Health Wales - what type of organisation do you want it to be? What should be important to us? In five years time, if asked to describe Public Health Wales, what words would you like to use?
Strategic objectives for Public Health Wales : what should these be for the next five years?
Priorities for Public Health Wales : what should these be for the next five years?
Responses should be sent to general.enquiries@wales.nhs.uk by 29 August.
The Public Health Wales Board will agree the strategic direction at its meeting on 4 October.
