Quality Requirements for Adults Rehabilitation Services
In 2009 The Minister for Health and Social Services accepted advice from the Audiology Standing Specialist Advisory Group (ASSAG) of the Welsh Scientific Advisory Committee (WSAC) and agreed to endorse the adoption of the above quality standards in Wales.
The Scottish Health Department with input from a range of stakeholders developed, over a 3 year period, Service Standards for adult hearing rehabilitation services. The methodology towards development of the Standards was prescribed by Quality Improvement Scotland (QIS) and they are accompanied by an evidence-base that includes reference to Welsh health service policy documents. There was input from across the UK, including an Audiologist representing the Welsh Assembly Government.

How to Use Your Hearing Aid Leaflet
The 2008 ‘How to Use Your Hearing Aid’ Leaflet has now been updated. It is designed to give patients clear step by step instructions about how to use and look after their Hearing Aid. It also contains up to date contact information on all relevant deaf charities and organisations.
All Hearing Clinics are aware of the updated leaflet and have been asked to signpost their patients to the online leaflet. It has also be widely signposted in the voluntary sector.
